Description

Testosterone levels generally peak during adolescence and early adulthood. As you age, typically about 1% a year after age 30 or 40 your testosterone level gradually declines. For older men, it’s important to determine if a low testosterone level is due t normal aging or if it is due to a disease (hypogonadism).

Low level of testosterone could be due to a problem with the testicles or with the pituitary gland that controls the testicles.

There are many risk factors that may contribute to low testosterone, for example obesity or even diseases such as diabetes. Studies have shown that estimate close to 1 out of 3 overweight men have low testosterone, and obesity puts them at risk 5 times more than a normal weight man.

What Are The Effect Of Low Testosterone Levels?

If you have concerns about “Andropause” or that your testosterone levels may be low, this set of ten simple questions is a good place to start.

The Androgen Deficiency in Aging Males (ADAM) questionnaire is an easy way to answer questions about your sexual health and testosterone level.

1. Do you have a decrease in libido (sex drive)?

2. Do you have a lack of energy?

3. Do you have a decrease in strength and/or endurance?

4. Have you lost height?

5. Have you noticed a decreased “enjoyment of life?”

6. Are you sad and/or grumpy?

7. Are your erections less strong?

8. Have you noticed a recent deterioration in your ability to play sports?

9. Are you falling asleep after dinner?

10. Has there been a recent deterioration in your work performance?

If you answer YES to 3 and more to the questions : You may have androgen deficiency (low Testosterone levels). We would recommend a Comprehensive Blood Test to identify if you have low testosterone.
